Quilt Quark Gallery - Diana Wiggins

Good afternoon from the mountains of New Mexico!

Here’s my latest quilt and first contribution to Quilts for Kids.  Once we're back in SC, I’ll make arrangements to get it into Faye’s hands and hope that it will go to good use!

I saw a similar quilt on Pinterest (home of so many good ideas) and discovered how to make the unusual blocks.  Using my color-separated scraps, I came up with rows of different hues and finally assembled the top.  I used coordinated embroidery floss to hand-stitch along one side of each row of “bolts.”  This was the perfect project to do while sitting in the cool breeze on the front porch!  I machine stitched the three layers in place and then hand-tied “x”s at each of the “bolt” points on the top.  The handwritten label and binding followed, and I declared it finished at last!

Thanks for all your inspiration!  In between garment sewing projects, I’ll be thinking of ideas for Quilt #4.
