Highlights from the July 1, 2023 Meeting

Our President Ava Moore called the meeting to order at 1:03 p.m.

Our August meeting topic will be CIRCLES:

Bring any quilts that you’ve made with circles.
We will have 4 stations representing different ways of doing quilts with circles.

We had one new member join this month and 5 guests: Marcia, Elizabeth, Anna, Stacy and
Polly. 27 members attended and 11 charity quilts were donated.

Ruth discussed new books:
• Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns
• Cobblecourt Quilt series non-fiction
• Sew Healthy and Happy by Rose Parr

Our September meeting will be held the second Saturday (September 9) due to the holiday.

Last month’s meeting discussed the MQG website.

PDF on website with regard to obtaining your membership card.

Next year’s QuiltCon will be held in Raleigh, North Carolina. We looked at next year’s challenge
quilt. The design team met the past Monday to design. This year’s theme is symmetry. We will
provide our completed quilt to one of our charities or let charity raffle off the quilt for
proceeds.

Marietta’s has offered their sewing room for our use. The plan is for two different Sundays:

Sunday, August 20 from 1pm to 4pm
Sunday, September 17 from 1pm to 4pm.

Everyone is welcome to help, we will be cutting, trimming, and piecing the blocks.

The new plans for the October meeting are that GMQG member Pat Merkle will be doing a
trunk show and program, focused on binding methods.

Participants shared their Challenge quilts followed by a celebration of our 10-year anniversary.

For the program portion of our meeting Barbara Stroup presented a trunk show of her lovely quilts.
