VP – Programs: Jackie Callis & Darleen Sanford
2022 Challenge:
Darleen presented details of this year's challenge which will use the
skills we gained in the March program on improv piecing and are
learning with Valorie's BOM. For our Challenge we will be using an
orphan block(s) you may have laying around (or put together a simple
nine patch, log cabin, etc.). The block(s) will then be cut at least 3
times. These pieces will be used to create a quilt no bigger than 36” x
36” (a medium size wall hanging). The Challenge reveal will be in
September.
June: At this month's meeting, we
will get to know some of our newer members. Brandi, Anita, Ava and
Duski will be showing a few of their quilts and talking about their
quilting journey. Also, information about the July meeting including
examples of the projects and sign-up sheets will be provided by Sandy.
July:
Sandy is organizing this month's meeting. Because it is the 4th of July
weekend, this will be an informal gathering, ” Make-It and Take-it”
will be the subject. And, we will have 4th of July cake! At the June
meeting there will be 3-4 samples of the projects on a table with a
sign-up sheet in front of
each.
We ask that you sign-up for the one or two in which you wish to
participate so that we make enough “kits” in each category. If you miss
the June meeting, please email Sandy. Kits with fabrics, batting and instructions will be provided.
Tools you need to bring are:
Sewing machine, (just a small straight sewing one is all that is necessary)
Small and longer ruler, rotary cutter and small matt.
Neutral thread (beige, tan or light gray)
Scissors
Pins
Disappearing marker.
Minutes of the June meeting and the July meeting reminder notice will have pictures of the projects and tools needed.
