Highlights from the February 2018 Meeting

Surface Design with Faye Jones

What a fantastic program we enjoyed this month! Greenville MQG member, Faye Jones, shared her experience with surface design on fabric, including samples, tips, and pitfalls. Most of all, she emphasized the importance of just giving it a try and experimenting! Here are some of her resources you may be interested in:
  • Dharma Trading Company - find dyes and other supplies along with many technique tutorials.
  • Book: Create Your Own Hand Printed Cloth by Rayna Gillman
  • Book: Color By Accident by Ann Johnson
  • Online resources: search rust dyeing, Shibori, stamping with thickened dye, cloth dyeing (Paula Burch articles are excellent).
  • And of course, Faye is always willing to help you! Feel free to contact her.

Fabric Surface Design - Saturday, February 10th

Surface Design with Faye Jones

Have you ever considered making your own fabric? This month, our very own Faye Jones will discuss several techniques in fabric surface design. Maybe you've wondered - what is Shibori? Resist printing? Screen printing? Faye will explain all of that and more. She'll even be sharing some of the quilts she's made with her self-dyed fabric. You don't want to miss this inspiring talk!

A reminder from Didi for those of you who are helping her with her secret project:
Please bring your completed blocks to the February meeting. Cindy Lammon will be assembling them into the group quilt we're making. If you can't make the meeting and would like to mail them, contact Cindy at cindy@hyacinthquiltdesigns.com, or send them with a friend. We are excited about this project and have a quilter and a binder on board. We have a backing, but will be needing binding and batting. Donations welcome. Remember... mum's the word! Shhhhh!

We will also be collecting the Perkiomen Valley blocks that will be donated to the fire relief effort of the Ventura MQG. Follow the link for the block directions and please use "watery" colors.

Don't forget to return any library books borrowed at last month's meeting!

We look forward to seeing your Show and Share quilts and hope you can join us on Saturday, February 10th, 2018 from 1-3 pm at:
