Ava started the meeting by introducing the newly elected

Membership – Jill Erickson
Jill reported that we had 66 members at the end of 2022.
The net profits from the Christmas luncheon were $548 (the
raffled items less the cost of the luncheon).
The deadline for the 2023 dues of $50 is March 4th
if you want to be in the current directory.
Also if not paid by this time your name will be removed from the Modern
Quilt Guild National Registry. Once
paid, membership cards can be printed from the National Website.
Philanthropy – Duski Coleman and Cindy Lange
Duski and Cindy shared info with regard to the two
organizations we support through Philanthropy – Julie Valentine Center (Greenville
Hospital) and Nurse Family Partnership.
Duski also shared how grateful the team was at Julie
Valentine Center when she dropped off some donated quilts.
13 quilts were collected this month for the above
charities. Thank you!!
Social Media – Dagmar Theodore
Dagmar discussed our Facebook website and encouraged members
to also post items of interest.
Library – Ruth Freyer
Ruth informed us that there were some new additions to our
library.
Ava shared info with regard to QuiltCon 2023 to be held in
Atlanta, GA, February 23 – 26, 2023.
QuiltCon will be held at the Atlanta Convention Center and fee is $15
per day (MQG members who registered early were able to get a free pass as part
of their membership).
Ava introduced Sandy Wolf from Foothills Piecemakers Quilt
Guild. There is a FPQG bus trip to
QuiltCon on February 23, 2023. Cost for
trip is $32. Bus will arrive at 6:30
a.m. in the WalMart parking lot on Pelham Rd; leaving at 6:45 a.m. Scheduled to arrive at QuiltCon at 10:00 a.m.
and departing at 3:30 p.m. FPQG has
authorization from WalMart that you can leave your car parked there day of bus
trip.

Faye Jones presented our former President, Sandy Helsel,
with a phenomenal Guild Quilt. Faye
thanked Sandy for her extraordinary efforts in keeping the guild going and
working to increase membership following COVID.
27 members and 13 guests attended. 9 new members joined.

Program – Lewis Carl – Color Theory Presentation
Lewis is an Assistant Professor in the Graphic Design
Department at BJU.
Lewis started his program with a color wheel and showing us
the three primary colors, secondary colors and the tertiary colors and the
chromatic relationship. The lecture expanded on ways we perceive color. At the end of the lecture Lewis passed out
colored card stock for us to work on color schemes based on our learned
knowledge.

back and explore the color theories he presented.
Our next meeting will be Saturday, February 4, 2023,
from 1-3 pm at St. Giles Church, 1021 Hudson Road, Greenville, SC.
