Quilt Quark Gallery - Johnnie McKenzie

This quilt is a Victoria Finley Wolfe quilt but I could not find a pattern per se for it.  It's a fairly common block but all she has on her website are the Square Dance Sizzix Dies.  She also has a video for how to piece them.  I have used this block for a long, long time but don't remember ever seeing the name Square Dance.  I checked quilterscache.com but couldn't find it there or on a Google image search.  If anyone knows a better name or history other than what Wolfe has, please let me know.  I have a link to the video below.

  1. This “twisted” square in a square is #2560 Barbara Brackman’s Encyclopedia pp. 316, 317. It has two names: The Radio Windmill – KC Star 10/22/41 and Windmill – Nancy Cabot. # 2561 has a four-patch in the center.
